Good service from Aisle Master

German company EMS operates a rental service for everything you need for events, trade fair stands and festivals and has over 2,500 items in stock at its base near Hannover. Two Aisle Master articulated forklifts ensure the efficient handling and space-saving storage of the very diverse products in its 5,500m² warehouse. From crockery and cutlery to table linen, tents, table and chairs, EMS can offer a complete package for every occasion.

Before the company moved into its new premises in 2014, managing director, Mr. Hendrik Seigwasser realised that the limited flexibility of the previously used reach trucks would not be suitable for the new site. Having read a report in a trade magazine about the Aisle Masters, he was aware of their capabilities and a demo at a Combilift stand at a show in Hannover convinced him that they would be ideal for his requirements.

"Due to the wide variety of loads we have to transport every day we need a high degree of flexibility. Our products are stored in different containers such as Euro pallets and trolleys and also include unwieldy and wide articles such as benches. Finding one single type of forklift truck that could offer a ‘full service’ was therefore a priority. I know that for many Aisle Master customers, narrow aisle operation is the key factor, but for me, it was more the versatility and manoeuvrability of these articulated trucks that were the decisive factors".

Mr. Seigwasser chose electric powered 15SE models which have a width of 1,240mm and a triplex mast with a lifting height of 6,000 mm. To ensure optimum handling of the larger loads, 1,200mm longer than standard forks were fitted. The load capacity of 1,500kg copes easily when lifting the heaviest loads, such as the 1.2t pallets of crockery to the top 5.80m racks.

The hydraulic fork positioner, which can be operated from within the cab is a feature that is appreciated by the drivers as well as the management. Mr. Seigwasser: "As pretty much every load is different in size, this saves the drivers having to repeatedly get in and out of the cab, saving time and effort. In the really busy months, particularly in the summer it’s a great advantage and keeps us running smoothly when we have a lot of orders to process and get out to customers".

"When I first found out about the Aisle Master it was relatively new on the German market, but that has now changed, and with good reason thanks to its reliable operation and minimal maintenance levels that keep costs down. All in all, it was a good decision and I’m looking forward to getting my second machine for our expanding premises soon."
