The OEM Engineering Apprenticeship, launched in 2019, trains original equipment engineers for the manufacturing industry. Led by industry experts and chaired by Martin McVicar of Combilift, it offers apprentices paid employment while they study engineering subjects.
This Level 6 programme develops skills in engineering drawing, electronics, OEM practices, mechatronics, problem-solving, and robotics, preparing apprentices for careers in engineering.

The OEM Engineering Apprenticeship, launched in 2019 and chaired by Martin McVicar of Combilift, trains original equipment engineers for the manufacturing industry. Apprentices earn a salary while gaining hands-on experience and studying engineering subjects.
This Level 6 programme develops skills in engineering drawing, electronics, OEM practices, mechatronics, problem-solving, and robotics, preparing apprentices for careers in manufacturing.
The OEM Engineering Apprenticeship is a comprehensive three-year Level 6 programme.

The OEM Engineering Apprenticeship was launched in 2019 to address the demand for original equipment engineers in the machine manufacturing industry. It was developed by a consortium of industry leaders chaired by Martin McVicar of Combilift. You are employed by Combilift as an apprentice for the duration of the apprenticeship programme. You earn a salary while working in Combilift and studying a range of engineering related subjects.

On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress into job roles such as an OEM Maintenance Technician, Field Service Technician, Engineering Technician, Diagnostic, Test and Finish Technician.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements
Leaving Certificate (pre-2017) with grade D3 or higher in five subjects which must include Mathematics. Post 2017 applicants must have achieved five O6 in the Leaving Certificate which must include Mathematics.
A full award placed at Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications (EQF 4) which includes proficiency in Mathematics similar to O6 in Leaving Certificate.
Must have successfully completed an approved pre-apprenticeship training course in an engineering discipline and demonstrate proficiency in Mathematics similar to O6 in Leaving Certificate.
In the case where an applicant is 23 years or over (or employed in the OEM sector for 3 years) and does not meet the educational requirements specified above, they may apply through the Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process.
All applicants must pass the Ishihara Colour Vision test (24 Plate addition) prior to registering on the programme.
The programme is delivered in English. In the event that an applicant has English as a second language, a CEFR Level C1 of proficiency in the English language is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide official evidence demonstrating English language competence at C1 level.

The OEM Engineering Apprenticeship is a new and exciting way to study engineering while earning a salary. It was developed in 2019 to address the demand for engineers available in the machine manufacturing industry, by a consortium of industry leaders of which Combilift is a member. It is level 6 Advanced Certificate in Original Equipment Manufacturing with a focus on the engineering and manufacturing where you would learn a range of skills such as engineering drawing electrical and electronic technology OEM practices, mechatronics , analytical & problem solving and Industrial robotics.
There are no fees for this course.
During the apprenticeship you would be employed by Combilift, earning a salary and learning a range of engineering skills which are highly valued by the manufacturing industry while living in the local community.
No registration, college or exam fees.
The OEM Apprenticeship is a 3-year programme.
Any apprentice who successfully completes the 3-year course will be awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in OEM Engineering.
