We are looking for a proactive and motivated EHS Officer to join our fast-paced manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Oversee safe systems of work, risk assessments, training, and safety documentation in line with ISO standards. Support audits, investigate incidents, and work with teams and external agencies to maintain high health, safety, and environmental compliance.

qualifications and duties
Responsible for overseeing safe work practices across the factory, ensuring systems are in place, up to date, and followed. The role involves developing safety documentation, conducting risk assessments, delivering inductions and training, and promoting a strong health and safety culture. Supports ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems and audits, investigates incidents and implements corrective actions, and coordinates training and Occupational Health requirements. Also includes monitoring environmental factors such as VOCs and emissions, liaising with external agencies, analysing reports, and contributing to EHS projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervision of work activities in the factory to ensure safe systems of work
- Developing and reviewing safety documentation
- Compiling toolbox talks and managing the schedule
- Ensure safe systems of work are in place, up to date and followed
- Reporting and assisting in the investigation of accidents and incidents and implementation of suitable corrective and preventive actions
- Assist in the maintenance of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 and surveillance audits with the EHS Manager
- Carry out employee and contractor inductions
- Delivery of Training including but no limited to Manual Handling Training
- Complete and review risk assessments as and when required
- Support the EHS function along with safe working practices across the company
- Actively promote H&S throughout the company
- Implement new processes and H&S policies where identifiable.
- Attendance and chairing, when required, of the monthly safety meeting’s
- Communication with EHS Department to ensure the close out of EHS corrective actions
- Running and analysing reports
- Identify and help determine the training requirements for all staff in relation to Health & Safety

- Liaise with Occupational Health with regards to employee referral appointments
- Assist managers/supervisors in the investigation of accidents, incidents, near-misses and unsafe behaviour/conditions, and the determination and implementation of suitable corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitoring and measurement of VOC’s and emissions etc.
- Communication with external agencies such as Irish Water, Monaghan County Council, EPA etc.
- Assist in various EHS projects
- Ad hoc duties
Candidates should hold a relevant qualification in Environmental Health & Safety, ideally a third-level degree or a NEBOSH Diploma, with a Manual Handling Instructor qualification considered an advantage. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions, work independently, and effectively prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to analyse reports, support continuous improvement, and deliver results under pressure with competing deadlines.
- Desirable to have the relevant qualifications in Environmental Health & Safety. This should include a third level qualification in a main or related subject to the field or NEBOSH Diploma
- Manual Handling Instructor qualification is advantageous
- Have the ability to problem solve and generate practical and sensible solutions with your colleagues and your team
- Be able to work on own initiative and ability
- Demonstrate the ability to devise and analyse reports which assist in the continuous improvements across the Company
- Have the ability to deliver to sometimes pressurised deadlines and competing priorities
- Have strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written
