Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland are leading a trade and investment mission to southern Germany this week, centred on Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Led by Minister Niamh Smyth, the mission aims to deepen economic partnerships and open new opportunities across high-value sectors including construction, agri-tech, automotive, aviation and space.
Germany is Ireland’s third-largest export market. Enterprise Ireland client exports reached €2.65 billion in 2024, up 13% year on year. Two-way trade now exceeds €60 billion double the 2015 level. Irish companies employ more than 40,000 people in Germany, while German firms support almost 15,000 jobs in Ireland across technology, life sciences and financial services.
Several Irish companies announced new deals and expansions during the mission. Réaltra secured a landmark contract with ArianeGroup to provide on-board live video telemetry for the Ariane 6 rocket. AMACH formed an alliance with Jeppesen to deliver cloud and AI solutions in aviation. Combilift is showcasing its 100,000th Golden Combi-CBE forklift at BlechExpo, while Portwest and Hoffmann unveiled a strategic partnership. ProSys Group is collaborating with Merz Therapeutics and PPT Engineering on a pilot plant in Frankfurt for clinical-trial manufacturing of sterile liquids.
Further developments include TireCheck demonstrating new automotive sensor technology at its Herbrechtingen site, Aerogen expanding in Germany with an emergency-services partnership and the launch of AerogenGo for home care, and EASYFIX presenting its innovative slurry system at Agritechnica, reinforcing its leadership across more than 60 countries.
Minister Smyth said the mission underscores the Government’s commitment to greater engagement within the Single Market. Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland leaders added that partnerships such as those with ArianeGroup and Jeppesen highlight Ireland’s ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions, while the visit strengthens relationships to attract new investment into Ireland.
