Combilift Wins Third Red Dot Award for New 7-Ton Electric Combi-CB70E

Combilift has secured its third Red Dot Design Award win with the Combi-CB70E, a newly launched 7-ton electric multidirectional counterbalance forklift created to tackle heavy-duty, long-load handling with a stronger focus on sustainability.

The advantages of the four-way concept that combines front and side loading technology are significant compared to conventional forklifts

Announced in Essen, Germany in July 2025, the Red Dot Award for Product Design 2025 recognises the Combi-CB70E for its overall design quality and innovation, as well as its ergonomic approach, performance capability and environmental credentials. The award marks a “hat trick” for Combilift at Red Dot level, following previous recognition for the Combi-WR and a “Best of the Best” award for the Combi-CB4.

The Combi-CB70E is designed specifically for handling long and bulky loads in confined or challenging spaces, bringing electric power to a higher-capacity category without compromising on capability. With a 7-tonne lifting capacity and Combilift’s patented Independent Traction Control System, the truck is engineered to deliver confident handling across demanding environments. Large elastic rubber tyres add all-terrain performance while maintaining zero-emission operation, supporting operations looking to reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing productivity.

Operator comfort and visibility were central to the design, with a spacious gas strut suspension cab and floor-to-ceiling glazing to enhance sightlines and reduce fatigue. A standout feature is the Auto Swivel Seat, which automatically turns 15 degrees left or right depending on the direction of travel, helping operators maintain a more natural posture through long shifts and repetitive manoeuvres.

Commenting on the win, CEO and co-founder Martin McVicar said the award reflects Combilift’s commitment to delivering solutions that are functional and safe while also meeting higher expectations for industrial design. He noted that customers are increasingly demanding electric alternatives that still perform in tough applications, and the CB70E was developed to meet exactly that need.

The Red Dot recognition caps an exceptional 11-month period for Combilift, which has also picked up multiple international accolades across product and leadership categories, including Product of the Year and an Ergonomics Award at the UKMHA Archies Awards, plus Design Team of the Year and Industry Leader honours from the UK’s Engineering and Manufacturing Awards.

With more than 1,000 employees and exports to over 85 countries, Combilift continues to push forward on safety, design and innovation within the global materials handling sector.
